I Am Alive

I recently bought I Am Alive, and I was very impressed with it, there were a few flaws but I will get to that later.

I was really impressed with the stamina system, you start out with full stamina and health of course, but there is a twist, if you run out of stamina you can use something called last chance. That burns down your stamina capacity. For example if you are climbing and you think you can make it with the very little stamina, go for it, just keep in mind when you are finished you will have less stamina capacity.

The climbing was put together very well, it was great to just climb up scaffoldings and try to find a way up to the top before your stamina completely wore out. I also loved sliding down a steep embankment and having to roll over to reach a rail that I could grab on to.

The fighting scenarios were extremely tense. You had a few decisions to make during the fight scenes, and each choice had a different impact on how the fight would turn out. I really loved pointing a gun at a guy, telling him to back up, only to push him down into the deep pit.

However, there was really only one action if you wanted to *struggle kill* someone and it did tend to get repetitive. Sometimes it was hard to figure out where to go, especially in the heavy dust. The climbing also was all predetermined points, it felt like you were following a system without a ton of freedom.

Overall, even though this games was only about 5 hours and didn't have that replayability value for me, I was really impressed and had a lot of fun with it.

Are Unbreakable Game Discs Possible?

Remember those indestructible cartridges? I do, and I miss them. I miss not having to worry about a scratched game disc, and just blowing into the cartridge so it would work. I also loved getting  used N64 game and using the previous owners' game data. It really helped with Pokemon Stadium. Not to mention not having to worry about my system getting clogged with all my game saves. What if your saved data was on your disc, and only your DLC was on your system? Of course you always have the option of copying your save data of the disc if you choose.

It would be interesting if they could make UMD style game discs for consoles. Something new, because graphics can only get better for so long. After that it will be innovation and playability.

Something else I just thought of was Barcode Games. Instead of putting a disc in your system, just scan the code. The only issue that could come with that is Piracy issues, but I'm sure someone will figure out how to secure it.

How to Buy Systems..........Differently

Everyone loves customized systems, I'm not talking about the inside technical mods. I'm talking about the casing, the thing everybody sees first. What if the next system you buy is completely yours?

Instead of places like Gamestop or Best Buy selling new systems, how about each company has its own console store? You walk into the store, and hop onto one of the design stations. You choose which model you want, and what casing style. If you want to design your own from scratch, you can design it at one of the art stations there or design it online at home. If you design it at the store, you get it handed to you within minutes, however if you design it at home, it will be a day or two before it is in your hands. Now i'm not saying retail stores will never sell systems again, I'm just saying they will sell used systems only.

Each store will have its own theme, such as Sony going with a black and neon type atmosphere, Microsoft going toward the green and bright atmosphere, and lastly Nintendo with the bright multicolored atmosphere. What do you think? Will it ever happen?

Answer in the comments :)

Will the Controller "Die Out"?

I don't think it ever will, everyone is going to want a controller, something to hold. I remember trying some Eyetoy games back on the PS2 and it just felt so awkward.

I always wanted that controller feel, strategically tapping the buttons and moving the sticks versus flailing my arms around like an idiot. Sure, the Kinect is amazing with not having to use a controller at all, but do you really want to play a racing game with your arms held up holding nothing? On a brighter note the Kimect did make exercising fun again, however I just think to play a game some type of controller will always be needed.

I don't think the Kinect should even try fighting games because, who wants to be in a fighting stance with his/her head turned to the right or left the whole time? I know I wouldn't. As I said in my last post I think the move will overtake Nintendo if it had a higher quality camera, and a unique design specifically by Sony.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree? Disagree? Why?

How to Improve the Move

This is going to be an insanely short post (which explains the 2 other posts today). Because, really there is only 2 things to Improve the Move, A new camera and Different Controller Style.

I don't see any difference between the PS2 Eyetoy and the PS3 Eyetoy do you? I was playing Eyepet one day, and I noticed that an extremely crisp creature was projected on my floor using what looked like, an iPod touch camera that was zoomed in too far. You can just imagine the quality of the room on the screen. I do like that you can do wide angle or not, but why not have it automatically detect what it needs?

What about those controllers? Look familiar? Yeah, a Wireless Wii controller with some balls on the top, that's all it is. I guess you can also say it's a more curved and easily slippable design too, when I had it, I almost dropped it so many times.

If you don't believe me you can try the Playstation Move for yourself.

Music Games: Did Rocksmith Win?

What is Rocksmith? For those of you who don't know, it's a music game much like Rockband or Guitar Hero. The only difference is you are using a REAL guitar and playing REAL chords.

I personally love it because I've always wanted to learn guitar but I didn't enjoy going to a teacher or trying to learn on my own. This game will make it fun (once i get it and get my guitar fixed).

The questions still stands: will Rockband and Guitar Hero fans switch over? Personally, I don't think that many will. Rockband and Guitar Hero both have full band setups, and it's really easy to pick and play VS. Rocksmith where you are playing and actual instrument. Not to mention the extra cost for a guitar and amp (if you choose).

However, there is a great benefit to Rocksmith. Have you ever wanted to show off in front of your friends or wanted to play a riff for someone to sing to? Rocksmith let's you do that.

So, no I don't think Rocksmith won, however it is very promising for next possible installments such as Drumsmith, where you plug in an actual electronic drumset and play along to your favorite songs, or VocalSmith where, it's like an actual voice coach. Then eventually will come Bandsmith, letting your full band of real instruments play together. I also think since it's a new music game it will have a lot of catching up to do in the music library. -->

Forza 4

Who's played the Forza series? What made you buy it? I have always been a bit of a racing fan, always looking for the most realistic racer out there.

Once I tried out Forza on the original Xbox I was hooked! Now, I did venture off into other realistic racing simulators like PGR and Gran Tursimo, but they just don't have the same feel.

PGR's Kudos is a fantastic idea, and it's always fun to rack them up, but it just doesn't feel the same. Gran Turismo on the other hand, feels extremely realistic, probably a tie with Forza. However, where is the customization and damage that Forza has? Yes, you can argue that GT5 does have  customization, but it is very limited on only a small amount of cars. Forza on the other hand. Forza's cars are fully customizable with any car. Even the themed ones, you can change the color scheme and decals to whatever you want!

Damage is another thing I love. Every car can get damaged, premium cars obviously receive more damage, but even the basic cars can get the paint ripped off, the bumpers hanging by a thread and so on.

I think it would be cool if you added the kudos system of PGR, and the night driving/ dirt tracks of GT5, Forza 5 would be amazing. Do you think that would be an amazing concept for a game?
