How to Buy Systems..........Differently

Everyone loves customized systems, I'm not talking about the inside technical mods. I'm talking about the casing, the thing everybody sees first. What if the next system you buy is completely yours?

Instead of places like Gamestop or Best Buy selling new systems, how about each company has its own console store? You walk into the store, and hop onto one of the design stations. You choose which model you want, and what casing style. If you want to design your own from scratch, you can design it at one of the art stations there or design it online at home. If you design it at the store, you get it handed to you within minutes, however if you design it at home, it will be a day or two before it is in your hands. Now i'm not saying retail stores will never sell systems again, I'm just saying they will sell used systems only.

Each store will have its own theme, such as Sony going with a black and neon type atmosphere, Microsoft going toward the green and bright atmosphere, and lastly Nintendo with the bright multicolored atmosphere. What do you think? Will it ever happen?

Answer in the comments :)

Will the Controller "Die Out"?

I don't think it ever will, everyone is going to want a controller, something to hold. I remember trying some Eyetoy games back on the PS2 and it just felt so awkward.

I always wanted that controller feel, strategically tapping the buttons and moving the sticks versus flailing my arms around like an idiot. Sure, the Kinect is amazing with not having to use a controller at all, but do you really want to play a racing game with your arms held up holding nothing? On a brighter note the Kimect did make exercising fun again, however I just think to play a game some type of controller will always be needed.

I don't think the Kinect should even try fighting games because, who wants to be in a fighting stance with his/her head turned to the right or left the whole time? I know I wouldn't. As I said in my last post I think the move will overtake Nintendo if it had a higher quality camera, and a unique design specifically by Sony.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree? Disagree? Why?

How to Improve the Move

This is going to be an insanely short post (which explains the 2 other posts today). Because, really there is only 2 things to Improve the Move, A new camera and Different Controller Style.

I don't see any difference between the PS2 Eyetoy and the PS3 Eyetoy do you? I was playing Eyepet one day, and I noticed that an extremely crisp creature was projected on my floor using what looked like, an iPod touch camera that was zoomed in too far. You can just imagine the quality of the room on the screen. I do like that you can do wide angle or not, but why not have it automatically detect what it needs?

What about those controllers? Look familiar? Yeah, a Wireless Wii controller with some balls on the top, that's all it is. I guess you can also say it's a more curved and easily slippable design too, when I had it, I almost dropped it so many times.

If you don't believe me you can try the Playstation Move for yourself.

Music Games: Did Rocksmith Win?

What is Rocksmith? For those of you who don't know, it's a music game much like Rockband or Guitar Hero. The only difference is you are using a REAL guitar and playing REAL chords.

I personally love it because I've always wanted to learn guitar but I didn't enjoy going to a teacher or trying to learn on my own. This game will make it fun (once i get it and get my guitar fixed).

The questions still stands: will Rockband and Guitar Hero fans switch over? Personally, I don't think that many will. Rockband and Guitar Hero both have full band setups, and it's really easy to pick and play VS. Rocksmith where you are playing and actual instrument. Not to mention the extra cost for a guitar and amp (if you choose).

However, there is a great benefit to Rocksmith. Have you ever wanted to show off in front of your friends or wanted to play a riff for someone to sing to? Rocksmith let's you do that.

So, no I don't think Rocksmith won, however it is very promising for next possible installments such as Drumsmith, where you plug in an actual electronic drumset and play along to your favorite songs, or VocalSmith where, it's like an actual voice coach. Then eventually will come Bandsmith, letting your full band of real instruments play together. I also think since it's a new music game it will have a lot of catching up to do in the music library. -->

Forza 4

Who's played the Forza series? What made you buy it? I have always been a bit of a racing fan, always looking for the most realistic racer out there.

Once I tried out Forza on the original Xbox I was hooked! Now, I did venture off into other realistic racing simulators like PGR and Gran Tursimo, but they just don't have the same feel.

PGR's Kudos is a fantastic idea, and it's always fun to rack them up, but it just doesn't feel the same. Gran Turismo on the other hand, feels extremely realistic, probably a tie with Forza. However, where is the customization and damage that Forza has? Yes, you can argue that GT5 does have  customization, but it is very limited on only a small amount of cars. Forza on the other hand. Forza's cars are fully customizable with any car. Even the themed ones, you can change the color scheme and decals to whatever you want!

Damage is another thing I love. Every car can get damaged, premium cars obviously receive more damage, but even the basic cars can get the paint ripped off, the bumpers hanging by a thread and so on.

I think it would be cool if you added the kudos system of PGR, and the night driving/ dirt tracks of GT5, Forza 5 would be amazing. Do you think that would be an amazing concept for a game?

Get Forza 4

Sony: The Console Powerhouse

There is so much I can say about Sony's PS3. It really is my favorite console of this generation, mostly because of the options and all the features that come standard.

This console will give you the best for your money, sure Xbox has a more stable online system, sure the Wii is all motion control, but what about the other features?

The PS3 has rechargeable controllers. Standard. Blutooth AND Bluray. Standard. Those are what really hooks me on the PS3. I love being able to use my Blutooth headset for my phone AND my PS3. I love being able to enjoy the extremely crisp graphics on Bluray Discs, not to mention some games the come in 2 Discs on the 360, and only come in one on the PS3.

However there still are some downfalls of their online system. For awhile they had free-to-play online with only getting revenue from online content or game sales, due to this their online account data got hacked and they lost a bit of user data (luckily I wasn't one of them).

Due to that hacking PSN was down for about a month or more. This just screwed up everything, games that came out during the outage had some problems. Just with redeeming online content, once PSN was back and running users still weren't able to redeem online content for a few days. I know this isn't going to happen again though. Because, now they have Playstation Plus. Much like Xbox Live it's about $60 a year, and it also has online storage.

The difference is you don't have to be a Playstation Plus member to play online, however there are some great benefits. Such as, Discounted, Free, Playstation plus only games, and Full Game Trials.  Another downfall that I noticed, was the launch of the PS3. The launch price was way too high, that's why I held off getting one for quite sometime.

It also took Sony awhile to introduce the rumble function to the wireless controllers, which I never understood, because the 360 always had rumble. I really love not going through batteries though,

it's great just plugging it in and continue playing. I'm sorry if i'm jumping around everywhere it's just how my brain works :D

Nintendo: The Pros and Cons of Innovation

Nintendo has been an amazing innovator of systems over the years, however all that comes at a cost. Take the gamecube for example, it was an amazing little thing.

There were a lot of flaws with that system though. It was the most awkward controller design ever, only with the Wii did they make an acceptable controller design. The game discs were extremely tiny, and the graphics were better than the PS2s graphics but had far worse games.

I think the discs were too easily lost due to the size. One incredible thing about the Gamecube was the durability! I saw a test of different consoles durability during that generation, and every system was too damaged to turn on or display anything, except for the Gamecube. The N64 had amazing durability too, that’s something Nintendo always exceeded at, except for the Wii.

That console is the most delicate console i have ever seen made, and then you got some games breaking the disc reader laser, making you unable to read any games until you pay to get it repaired. It kind of seems like the Xbox 360 launch, sure the system doesn’t overheat. Just some games make the Wii unplayable.

I think the only thing keeping Nintendo alive in the console market is it’s innovation, but what happens when everything has been attempted? We will just have to wait and see....

Was the Xbox 360 a mistake?

I'll try to keep as UnBiased as possible. I do have a favorite system of this generation but, I don't want to be like one of those people where one is ultimately the best. Let's get down to it!

                                               (Original Image)

I really like the curved design of the system. It's really sleek and stylish, I think is has a better look then the PS3 and the Wii. The USB ports are a bit tricky to plug in to, I do see why they used the flap though (to keep it hidden). The way the ring lights up draws your eyes in, kind of like the light at the end of the tunnel. On the back there are 4 additional USB slots to plug into, and the HDMI and Component cables are really easy to access. There are two things I really dislike about it though, The Power Brick and the Disc Tray.

The PS3 and Wii both dropped the disc tray, that was one of sony's big things when building hype for the system. My personal preference is to not have to worry about my disc tray breaking, making the system unplayable. I know the games could still get stuck inside the other systems, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

I really don't like the Power Brick at all, it's so bulky and takes up a bunch of room when hauling it somewhere. Why didn't the 360 put the Power Module inside the system? I would much rather take compact and heavy versus light and bulky.

I can't get use to the 360 Menu at all. Every time I go to play on it, I don't even bother sorting through all the different menus, I just close the tray and play. When I was going to enter a MS Points card, I looked everywhere but couldn't find out how to enter the code, I went to the Xbox Live tab multiple times, but still couldn't find a "Redeem Code" section. Finally, I did a quick google search to find out that you will see it if you click the MS Home button on your controller. Why not make it available from the Main Menu?

(I'll be sure to post mine later)

I know a lot of people were fussing about the avatars coming out, saying that it's a copy of the Mii. In a way it is, but the avatars have so much more depth. Obviously, the creation is going to be as in depth as it was in Saints Row: The Third, but it doesn't really matter. You can buy items from the Xbox Live Marketplace, and you can win certain items for getting achievements inside games. There are also usually a special bonus Item if you pre-order or buy a game new. I've grown to like the avatar I have. I rarely see him, but it adds that little hint of user interaction that will draw you in.

I like the controller a good amount, the only problem I have is the shoulder buttons. They still feel awkward to me, like a button that doesn't belong there. However, it's A LOT better then the black and white buttons. The batteries really annoy me too, when I got my 360 I decided not to get a $75 Play and Charge kit, but now I'm stuck with changing batteries every now and then. Why not make them rechargeable out of the box? The Wii did the same thing, I can't tell you how annoying it is to take off those sleeves just to change the batteries.

In the end, this is my second favorite system this generation.

If they changed and added a few things I would love it. Just like I favored the original Xbox over the PS2. I'm not one to have console loyalty, I go for what I think is the best.

Open World Greatness

So, here it is two in the morning and my mind is racing with thoughts about how the Open-World genre could be improved.

What are two important keys in an open world game? Freedom and things to do right? GTA 4 for me nailed the graphic quality and the draw distance (how far you can see before objects disappear/appear)which is something I've always wanted in an Open World game.

Just Cause 2 gave you a giant map, a grappling hook, a parachute and said go have fun.

Saints Row 3 said "Here's your gang, cause chaos".

What if we combined those three games? Imagine GTA 4, a grappling hook, a gang (FULLY customizable), and any type of vehicle you can imagine. The first open world game with a submarine. A game that uses Google Streetview (when available). An open world game with FULLY destructible environments (no more invincible buildings). A game where every building, and every room is accessible. That's the type of game I want to see, I know it's not possible....................yet.
